EWP Testing Pre-Test Guidelines

Home // EWP Testing Pre-Test Guidelines

When booking your EWP in for testing with us, there are some important things to remember.

To ensure the maximum probability of achieving a pass result for your EWP, it is important to present the unit in a clean and well prepared state, free of any visual damage prior to test. In accordance with the national standard, we are required to test your Mobile Elevated Working Platform (MEWP) as it is presented to us.

When cleaning your MEWP, make sure you wash the inside and outside of all insulating inserts at least 48 hours before the test and stand the boom up in the air to maximise its drying time. DO NOT wash your MEWP within 12 hours from when we start the test as it will not dry in time and will fail the electrical tests.

Polish the surface of the boom to ensure that the water sprayed onto the inserts during the wet tests will bead over the surface as opposed to pooling into a big puddle. Water pooling is not recommended.

Visually inspect your MEWP for any damaged or missing covers. If necessary, replace or repair them prior to us arriving. This includes, but is not limited to, chips and cracks.

Due to the requirements of the standard and the drying and cleaning time involved, we are unable to do the cleaning and preparation of the EWP for you prior to the test. However, we can offer a variety of Polywater cleaning products to assist you in the cleaning process, helping to make the process as fast and as easy for you as possible.
